Holidays

It is so interesting to see how Kadi is reacting to the changing of the seasons and the coming of the Holidays. With Thanksgiving, she really enjoyed seeing the family and all of the food! Sweet Potatoes were definitely her favorite! She did have a turkey coma after dinner and napped on the couch. As we prepared our house for Christmas, we really wanted to include her in every way possible. Kadi put the first ornament on the tree and helped daddy put the angel on the top. Now everyday, she enjoys when the tree is lit and constantly wants to "see it" as she says. Daddy put up the decorations outside (as usual!) and Kadi LOVES to see the lights twinkling outside. We are also dealing with the loss of Grandpop Heilig. As her only great-grandfather, I just wish she had gotten a better chance to know him. The viewing is tomorrow so we will be getting an opportunity to see some family that we normally do not get to see.
As for the updates, she now says mama and dada, see it, that, and na-na for night night. It is really amazing how she is growing and learning so much. She is crawling all over and she now can stand on her own, but is afraid to take that first step! I for one am thinking she may be walking by Christmas but who knows. She has 6 teeth (4 on top and 2 on the bottom).
She loves her couch that she got for her birthday from mom-mom and pop-pop. Her other favorite toys are probably her shopping cart, her life-size house, and her baby dolls.
I will try to continue to update as often as I can!

4th of July Weekend

Well we had a very crazy weekend for the holiday! On Thursday we made it over to the Kutztown Festival and got to see craftsmen making their crafts and had some good food. It was just pricey for the whole day so I don't know that we'll be going there next year. That night we went to the Iron Pigs fireworks display to see how Kadi would respond to the fireworks. She LOVED them! She was so mesmerized by the flashes in the sky. We were both excited because we really enjoy fireworks shows. On Friday, we went with my sister and her 4 kids to the Philadelphia Zoo. I had never been to a real zoo before and I was so thrilled to go! Kadi didn't really care too much - I think the animals were a little too far away. But all in all it was a good day! Saturday, we went to my parents house for a picnic. My brother-in-law Jon grilled out for us and we all had a good family dinner! Jason and Jon set off some fireworks for us which was entertaining. Finally, on Sunday, Jason and I took Kadi to the Lower Macungie Community pool. I had been wanting to take Kadi in the pool but Jason wanted to be there so this was a great opportunity to go! She had fun, kicking and splashing. They have a great kiddie pool and the kids aren't allowed to be in there over the age of 6 which keeps it nice and young. We will be going there again! What did you do for your Holiday weekend?

First Words

Today, Kadi began using her tounge to make new noises against her gums. It was adorable just watching her try these new things and then all of a sudden, she started to say da-da-da-da. I tried to grab for the camera, but she wouldn't do it again. When Jason got home from work, I said "O look who's home - Kadi who is that?" and she said "da-da-da." It was so cute and I will remember Jason's wide-eyed expression for ever.
Kadi was able to have a playdate today with Ella and Drew. I can't believe how Drew is so advanced being technically a month younger than Kadi. She is already crawling and pulling herself up to stand! It really interests me how some babies learn things faster and progress faster than others. But I can't wait to watch Kadi do all of these things on her own.

New Beginnings...

Well so far, this blog has been unsuccessful. I really have wanted to keep up with it so that when Kadi is older, I can show her how I kept track of her milestones and events that have happened. I will try harder though. We were keeping a webpage up but that failed too. Hopefully I can pick up the pace on this one and keep it moving. At 7 months old, Kadi is growing so fast. She can now sit up on her own, she rolls over both ways, babbles, eats solid foods, belly laughs when she's tickled, and so many other things. We have been taking videos so hopefully I can add them on here too. Currently, she is really starting to teeth. It keeps her up at night (which keeps mommy and daddy up at night!) but hopefully that will pass soon. Her friends right now are Hailey, Drew, and of course Ella. She loves to play with other babies and loves to hang out with her cousins. Aunt Kristen sings her "their song" Dontcha Wish Your Girlfriend... by PCD.We can't wait til it gets summertime-hot so we can get the pool out and teach her how to splash! So far most of June has been rainy and/or chilly so we've had to hold off. Our beach trip is planned for August 1 so that will give us more adventures!
